SETTING UP ROBOCHASE

When you have dowloaded the program from my web page, go straight to the Robochase folder and double click on the ‘Setup.exe" icon.

Once the program has been set up, Robochase will appear under the ‘Start’ menu under ‘Programs’. You may wish to create a short cut from Windows Explorer onto your Desktop.

PLAYING ROBOCHASE

To Create or Choose a Student File
Click ‘Create New Student’, write your name and click OK. Or if you have already created a file for yourself, select your name from the menu. To change a student while in an exercise, click the ‘Change Student’ button. NB There is no "Delete Student" – this feature has yet to be added. If you are using Robochase with more than one student and wish to clear the student records, uninstall and reinstall the program.

Select a Level
The levels are sequenced to correspond to the Keyboard Coach® stages. To move up or down a level (e.g. from Orientation to Introductory Sessions), press the ‘Change Level’ button. Begin with the Orientation and progress through each level. While in a level, you may progress through the exercises by clicking ‘Next’ and retrace your sequence by clicking ‘Previous.’

Set the Speed
Be sure to set the speed via the slide rule to 3 WPM when first practicing an exercise and then gradually increase it; keep the goal to at least 10WPM below your best score.

Editing and Creating Exercises
You may modify an existing exercise by clicking on the ‘Edit Test’ button. You may create your own exercises by clicking on ‘Make my Own Test’. N.B. If you choose to edit an original KBC exercise, you will only being able to replace that exercise by replacing the original text (see KBC Manual) or by re-installing the software.

Print Scores
The ‘Print Scores’ button will print a list (for the current user) of the date and best score for every exercise.

To Quit the Program
Go to the ‘File’ menu and select ‘Exit’.

Conflicts
To date the only conflict registered is with Lorien Texthelp. These programs have similar functionality. Be sure to disable TextHelp if you are using Robochase and vica versa.
